Padmanabhan(Dileep) was a professional marcher for any procession be it by any political party. He was the only son of comrade Madhavan, a veteran communist leader from Ottapalamknown for his integrity, and his childhood memories were of going to party demonstrations hanging on to his father’s arms. When his father died leaving him to look after his mother and two sisters, he was forced to take up the job of a professional marcher,the only work he knew. So he became a paid professional marcher for all who wanted him. He even changed his attire depending on which party’s procession he was attending. He wore dresses to match the colours of the respective party flags and this made him the darling of all. He spends most of his time in Thiruvananthapuran inconnection with the procession and he reaches the capital once again for the same purpose. But this time, his march becomes a big turning point in his life. He is made a candidate for the Corporation polls and gets elected. And then he is made the Mayor of the Corporation, ‘From the Jack to a King’, as the saying goes.
