Rajesh Pillai’s next with Mohanlal .

Rajesh Pillai who helmed the trackof new generation malayalam cinema through his Super Hit 'Traffic' has roped in with super star Mohanlal for his next movie. Another speciality of the movie is that actor and writer Murali Gopy who has received rave reviews for the scripting of the movie 'E ADUTHA KALATHU' will pen the script for this flick which will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor.

"Urumi" bags Best Film Award at Imagineindia International Film Festival.

11th edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival, held at Madrid has awarded Urumi with the Best Film award. About 70 films were screened in 12 sections at the festival across fourvenues in the city.
The competitive section comprised six films - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara by Zoya Akhtar, Urumi by Santosh Sivan, Memoirs in March by Sanjay Nag, Achal (TheStagnant) by Bikramjit Gupta, Adaminte Makan Abu by Salim Ahamed and Traffic by Rajesh Pillai. Santosh Sivan won the best director award for Urumi, Deepti Naval was named best actress for Memories in March and Salim Kumar won the best actor award for Adaminte Makan Abu.
The award for best music went toShankar, Ehsaan and Loy for their score in Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara.
The 11th edition of Imagineindia International Film Festival was held in Madrid from May 17-31.

Ranjith Sankar's next: "Molly Aunty Rocks".

Ranjith Sankar who etched his name in the Malayalam cinema industry with his first film 'PASSENGER' is gearing up for his third film titled as 'MOLLY AUNTY ROCKS' . The film deals with the story of a bold and courageous girl . Revathiand Prithviraj play major roles in this film. Earlier, Ranjith and Pritviraj had joined together for the film ARJUNAN SAKSHI. KPAC Lalitha, Mamukkoya, Sarath, Shivaji Guruvayoor and Lakshmi Priya areother actors in 'Molly Aunty Rocks'. Sujith Vasudev cranks the camera.The film to be produced under the banner of Dreams N Beyond and distributes by August Cinema.'Molly Aunty Rocks' will start rolling in this month itself.

Mohanlal opened facebook account.

Super star Mohanlal has opened a new facebook account. There were several fake accounts in the name of the actor and a plenty of unauthenticated informations about Lal were spreading through them.
This prompted the actor to open his own account in the address ‘ActorMohanlalOfficial’. The FB account will be linked to his website also.
Mohanlal was in news due to his blog writing on the death of TP Chandrasekharan and now it seems that the actor has plans to intervene in socio-cultural activities through this social networking media.

Mathrubhumi Group to launch a music channel named as 'KAPPA'

The Kerala-based media house is all set to launch a news channel and a speciality channel in the coming months.

The publishers of Mathrubhumi newspaper are all set to foray intothe television business with the launch of two channels - a news channel, Mathrubhumi News and a speciality channel, Kappa. Kappa, which is to be launched first, will carry a mix of music, lifestyle and trivia. The test runs for the same are expected to startfrom next month and a full-fledged launch is expected in July. NDTV has helped Mathrubhumi set up the two channels.
Talking to afaqs!, Shreyams Kumar, director, Mathrubhumi, says, "At the moment, system integration is going on for both the channels and in June, test runs will start. The test signals areon for the news channel, which will be launched second in the next couple of months after the speciality channel." The group is yet to reveal the logo of the two channels.
Kerala is likely to see the launch ofabout 10 channels in the next oneyear. According to those familiar with the TV space of Kerala, the channels in the pipeline include names like Kaumudy TV (by KeralaKaumudi) and Raj News Malayalam (test runs are on for both the channels), Media One, scheduled to be launched in August this year, Zee Malayalam, Asianet Chiri, Janapriya TV and Kairali Arabia, apart from the two channels by Mathrubhumi. Mathrubhumi News will be a hardcore news channel with features forming an important part of the content mix. Kumar informs that both the channels will be free-to-air (FTA) and the group is eyeing to place them in the prime band across Kerala.
The group is also indiscussions with DTH players to reach out to various parts of the world wherever there are prospective audiences, including West Asia. However, during the initial phase, the focus will be on establishing the channels in Kerala.
Mathrubhumi News will face competition from Indiavision, a Malayalam news channel from Indiavision Satellite Communications; Asianet News from Asianet; People TV from Kairali; Reporter TV from Indo-Asian News channel and Manorama News, the channel from its arch rival in the print domain, Malayala Manorama.
