Vineeth Sreenivasan's next with Nivin Pauly

Vineeth Sreenivasan belongs among the young directors with the minimum guarantee of sucess.Vinneeth has given super hits like Malarvadi Arts Club and Thattathin Marayathu and the secret of his success is that he takes a long time in making a story and visualizing it. Besides,he chooses only simple themes for his stories. Vineeth's marriage was after the super hit film, 'Thattathin Marayathu' and he took a short break from films. Nivin Pauly, who was the hero in his two films has given hints about this."Vineeth's next film will not be like Malarvady or 'Thattathin Marayathu', it will be taken in a very different way", says Nivin Pauly. He also said that he is not sure if he will work in Vineeth's new movie. 'Thattathin Marayathu' and 'Malarvadi Arts Club' were films which narrated the story about friendship and love, buthints suggest that his next film will be an action thriller with a metro background.

Theevram :: Malayalam Movie Review

Dulquer Salmaan as Harshvardhanplays the lead around whom the entire plot rests. The film opens with a mysterious murder. This killing sets the tone for the rest ofthe movie with brutal and gruesome scenes of murder and mutilation.

'Theevram' by Roopesh Peethambaran is as the title suggests, an extremely intense movie. The first half creates a suspicious mood with an auto driver, Raghavan always followinga woman, Nimmy. Events lead to the disappearance of the auto driver. It is shown that he is kidnapped by Harshvardhan, Dulquer.

The part before interval is layered with half said words and hidden clues that heightens the suspense.

Dulquer is presented to the audience as fitting star, evoking applause. The kidnap is investigated by Alexander Kurien(Sreenivasan) and his assistant, Ramachandran. Sreenivasan comes across as an intelligent police officer who hides behind a mask of timidity and slothfulness. The second half explains the reason for the kidnap and the murder through aflashback. The flashback presents Maya, (Shikha Nair) as Dulquer's lover. The hidden conspiracy of the first part comes to light.

The film questions judiciary and justice. The wounded heart becomes the centre of the plot. There is raw feel to the movie with lots of flesh and blood shown.

The performance of the cast varied according to the scope andlength of the character. Dulquer, Vishnu Raghav, Vinay Forrt and Sreenivasan gave commendable performances. The music by Roby Abraham produced nothing muchto write about. Cinematography was more or less mediocore. There were three surprise guest appearances too that was the highlight of the second part.

VERDICT - BELOW AVERAGE

My Boss :: Malayalam movie Review

'My Boss' is light hearted romanticcomedy, set in Mumbai and Kerala, which traces the life of an Australian Immigrant, Priya (Mamta Mohandas) and her subordinate at the office Manu (Dileep). A circumstance concerning certain immigration formalities forces the dynamics oftheir relationship to turn upside down. The tough task-maker and abusive 'Boss' unwittingly becomes 'Wife' of the subordinate. The ensuing tangles are hilarious, leaving the viewers short of breath and with an aching stomach from laughing too hard. The comic moments created through the 'cat and mouse' game between the two, forced to be together, with their vast cultural differences and othersuch escapades are absolutely hilarious.

The film sustains the comedy almost throughout, except for thelast half an hour, when predictably the pair turns all gooey and romantic. Sai kumar asDileep's father and Seetha as his mother have important parts in the movie. Others like Kalabhavan Shajon, Valsala Menon, and MasterJeevan support the lead pair. The entire cast has given good performances. Of course Dileep stands out. Mamta too does a decent part, though one feels the perfection has not been sustainedthroughout.

"My Boss" tells a simple story which is pumped up with humour and absolute mirth. The director, Jeethu Joseph, definitely succeeds in making the audience holler (laugh out loud). Unless anduntil you think with your brain, the balloon stays inflated, floating lazily and happily high up in the azure sky with a smiling sun and white fluff clouds.

This feel-good movie has music by Sejo John andM. Jayachandran, which sometimes seem an intrusion in the middle of a volatile rendering of comedy. A sense of impatience grips, especially as the song 'enthinennariyilla enginennariyilla'by East Coast Vijayan plays, when the tone of the movie changes. Camera work by Anil Nair is commendable. It has to be said that My Boss is definitely a remake of the English RomCom The Proposal by Anne Fletcher starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

The plot has been retained and only the comic situation has been changed to suite the Malayalee sensibility. But then, it is the comedy that grips the viewers rather than the plot.

She also added that, she had studied dancing till 11th standard, but the cinematic dancing was never her style. Mythili also said during an interview that, Padmapriya or Jyothirmayi, who introduced the item dance in Malayalam are not her role models, instead, Silk Smitha is her role model in item dance.

Molly Aunty Rocks :: Malayalam movie review

How many times have you seen the story of a middle aged women being told in Malayalam, where it is about her grit and not about her tears? Not many for sure, but Ranjith Sankar’s Molly Aunty Rocks presents such a cute little tale.
Molly Aunty (Revathy) is a bank clerk working in a remote village in Palakkad and managing things on her own. She has just rejoined the bank, after living in the US for almost twenty years and hopes to take a retirement soon, to go back to her family.
Her husband Benny (Lalu Alex) hails from a wealthy family from Thrissur and lives in the US with the couple’s two daughters. Molly Aunty’s distinct style, the love-hate relationship with her mom-in-law and her disciplined ways at the office are quite a delight to watch.
Writer-director Ranjith Sankar, who made the excellent movie Passenger and a rather disappointing Arjunan Sakshi, dares to tread through some simple but often ignored areas with this story of an eminently likeable woman, who should be somewhere around the fifties in her age.
The story takes a rather interesting turn when Molly Aunty has a showdown with an arrogant and egoistic IRS officer named Pranav Roy (Prithviraj). It’s quite refreshing that the relationship between a man and a woman goes beyond love or lust, on the screen.
With a storyline that is inherently sincere, the director succeeds in presenting a story, which can be related to by most of the viewers. Though the story is unveiled in a leisurely pace at times, this is one script that needs a pat on the back for its sincerity and merits. The characters presented in the film are real and the situations are indeed natural. Sujith Vasudev’s visuals and Anand Madhusoodanan’s music have helped the film tremendously for sure.
But then, this is Revathy’s film. In a performance that will leave a smile on the viewers’ face most of the time, Revathy makes Molly Aunty convincing and charming. In his brief role, Prithviraj makes his presence felt quite effortlessly. And the supporting characters all gets an identity of their own, be it Lalu Alex’s loving husband, KPAC Lalitha’s mom-in-law, Mamukkoya’s lawyer, Sunil Sukhada’s IT official, Sharath’s priest or Shivaji Guruvayur’s bank manager.
Molly Aunty Rocks is a gripping and engaging tale of a woman, who is well aware about what she wants from life. She is egoistic but her thoughts are noble.

VERDICT : SIMPLE AND GOOD: DO NOT MISS IT

Thrivikram Srinivas’s “Gajapokkiri” is the Malayalam version of the Telugu movie “Julai” with Allu Arjun, Illeana D’cruz and Rajendraprasad in the main roles. Allu Arjun as Ravi is the gambling crook at loggerheads with Sonu Sood, who as Bittu, is a notorious thief. The two try to outwit each other and in the process gives rise to a sequence of hilarious situations which finally ends in an appropriate manner. The movie has an astonishing start which is likely to startle the audience and hold their attention for the rest ofthe period and the tempo is maintained right through to the end. Allu Arjun as the IPL betting man, is highly entertaining and times his wisecracks to perfection. He dances gracefully, dresses elegantly and fights spectacularly, and his strong screen presence adds fillip to the film. Allu Arjun in short, makes theaudience laugh and laugh and laugh. Rajendra Prasad as the shivering cop has another brilliantand outrageously funny role and his histrionics are absolutely fabulous. The combination of Allu Arjun and Rajendra Prasad makesit ten out of ten in humour. IlleanaD’cruz as Madhu plays perfect foil Allu Arjun and looks attractive anddesirable in the dance and romantic scenes. Also joining the entertaining trio are Brahmanandam and MS Narayana.Sonu Sood as Bittu fits the role and Brahmaji contributes his mite. Music by Devi Sri Prasad has already proved its quality by being on top of the charts. Dialogues by Thrivikraman are impressive while choreography is quite well done. Srinivasan’s direction is good and he has done a good job with screenplay as well. Editing too has been donecrisply and sensibly. Probably, second half could have been edited in a better manner. All in all, Trivikraman has done a fantastic job, tackling a revenge story and making it uproariously funny with his punch lines. He is wonderfully supported by the acting team, none being an exception, but Allu Arjun stands out with his majical performance. Rajendra Prasad as the cowardly cop who turns a new leaf, holds sway over the audience with another superbly comic act.

ivan megharoopan :REVIEW

“Ivan Megharoopan” is the portrayal of a wayward genius who lived life the way he wanted to, causing pain and agony to those around him. The story is based on the lifeand death of the great poet P.Kunhiraman Nair, but it is not a biography. It is a fictionalized version of the poet’s life. The character in the film, played by Prakash Bare, is KP Madhavan Nairwho was born in a noble family and was a child prodigy. He started writing poems from a veryyoung age but his philandering ways and lack of commitment in any relationship made him jump from one woman to another without any fulfillment. His first love Janaki gives way to poetess Saraswathi whose talents made Madhavan Nair uneasy. Soon he was away looking for other conquests but nowhere was he able to build a relationship. P Balachandran shows where his sympathies lay while portraying the tragic hero whose fall from grace is documented in a poignant manner. The director has taken care to project the extraordinarily gifted poet and through all the dirt and filth that are associated with the poet, he emerges in the end as an outstanding person whose failings could be forgiven. PrakashBare as the poet gives a magnificent performance, mixing the emotions of banter, sadness and romance and living the character in the film. Truly memorable indeed. Padmapriya, Shwetha Menon, Ramya Nambeesan and Anumol who enter the poet’s life at different times, have come off very well. Cinematography by Rajeev Ravi is absolutely fantastic and gives a surreal feeling of the world the poet lives in. Sharath has composed music of the highest standard which is not surprising, but here he has exceeded himself with some fantastic numbers, lifting the movie to a different zone. “Ivan Megharoopan” is the story of a giant of a man whose shadow lurks in the background even when not shown on the screen. It is the story of a man without a care in the world, a man who lived his life to the full and whose fame has not lost even a bit of glitter in the course of time. The film is engrossing, thought provoking and makes you heave a sigh of regret for the man whom we all start actually liking in the end. Verdict: Good

Prithviraj has always been clear that his ultimate goal is to become a director. He has now announced that he is ready to direct a film on his own right. However, he is particular that the screenplay for his film must be written by none other than Ranjith. He has been pestering Ranjith with this request to write a screenplay suitable for his movie, Prithvi said in a recent interview. His close friendShaji Natesan has already assured Prithvi that he would take up the production of the film, he added. Talks on the Hindi remake of Prithvi’s Malayalam film “Veettilekulla Vazhi’ are progressing. Prithvi said that he himself would makethe Hindi remake of “Veettilekulla Vazhi”.

Fahadh fazil for a new change!!!!

Fahad Fazal has decided that a change is required and has now taken up a different role. He will be playing the part of a sexton(Kappiyar), thus gettingout of the image of a metropolitan youth. In fact, he was criticised for accepting only such roles in all his films. He took up the role of an auto driver in Lini Jose directed “Friday”, marking a change in his selection. “Friday” was shot in the backdrop of Alappuzha. In his new role, he appears as the sexton of a church situated in a small village and the story revolves around the church and people living around the church. The movie is named“Amen” and is directed by Lijo Pallissery whose earlier film was “City Of God”. “Amen” has plenty of music and dance and music direction is by Prashanth Pillai. There will be two heroines one of whom will be from outside India.

You find yourself in a fix truly, when you see a bunch of youngsters in 'Cinema Company' dissecting a film that they have just seen, and expressing their displeasure at what they have been through for the last couple of hours. An odd two hours later in the cinema hall, you find yourself in exactly the same predicament, and with your hammer and tongs all set down, you settle down to take a closer look at what 'Cinema Company' is all about.

'Cinema Company' is all about four youngsters Panicker (Sanjeev), Paulachan (Basil), Fazal (Badri) and Paru (Shruthi) who have become thick friends, as thick as the Thick Rap, ever since they came across each other at the International Film Festival of Kerala. They share a love for films, and are called the 'Cinema Company' by all and sundry.

Their decision to make a film is quite all on a sudden, when being teased by a friend that they are basically jobless. Film making, they soon realize is no ordinary job, and they painfully get around the stumbling blocks one by one until their dream film gets to be made.

Well, almost. I kinda really liked the build up of this film, and was surprised to see that the story suggests that whatever Fazal has been scripting comes true in real. It brings to mind the film that Paru has been talking about initially; the second half of which lost steam, and it comes to real in 'Cinema Company' as well!

The resurrection of the film within the film is what carries 'Cinema Company' forward in the latter half, and it gets increasingly unconvincing with every passing moment. Everything falls into place eventually, and the film does get made. But the dramatics that precede the climax are absolutely out of place.

Sometimes it so happens that a cinema that tries to be as 'uncinematic' as possible eventually does give in to the pressures that build up from all around. The superstar Rajeev Krishna (Nithin) being coerced to offer support to 'Cinema Company'' yet again is one such occasion that stands out like a real sore thumb. That the sequence itself turns out to be watch worthy thanks to Nithin's fine performance is another matter altogether.

Which brings me to the impressive young blood that has been cast in the film. Basil, as is suggested in the film, does have the looks of a hero, and is bound to go a far way. I loved the performances of Sanjeev, Badri, Shruthi, Lakshmi, Sanam, Swasika and Shibla as well. 'Cinema Company' goes on to prove that there is so much of talent that lies unexplored in Malayalam cinema.

Alphones' musical score, barring a Thick Rap that didn't appeal to my sensibilities, is impressive. Jibu Jacob's frames ensure that the film looks stunning on screen.

If there is one thing that 'Cinema Company' has served, it's simply that it makes me want to wait for Mamas' next film. Having moved ahead by leaps and bounds since his debut film 'Paappi Appacha', the script might have failed him this time around, but this is a film maker who's bound to bounce back for more. And the next time, I'm sure, it's only gonna get better.

Cinema company gets High responses

As movies from youngsters are ruling the Mollywood market like never before, another new movie from freshers has opened to fairly better responses. Director Mamas new movie ‘Cinema Company’ featuring a bunch of fresh faces- Basil, Sanjeev, Sruthi Hariharan, Badri, Mithun Paul, and Ankitha Kurien has been opined as an entertainer by the First day First Show viewers.

The movie tells the attempts of a group of cinephiles to make a movie of their own. The cinematography by Jibu Jacob and songsby Alphonse Joseph are other highlights of the movie. Director Mamas and his crew will need some more marketing to place the movie in a safer side, as all odds including the month of Ramzan will be making adverse effects on its Box Office collections.

Thattathin marayathu :: Movie Review

All of us must have fallen in love while in college. Thattathin Marayathu is another college romance between two youngsters belonging to different faiths and the resultant complexities and issues.
Credit must be given to Vineeth Srinivasan for the care taken in each frame to create the right mood and elevate the characters. Those who had fallen in love and felt the pangs of separation and the desperate helplessness will identify themselves in Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar.

Vineeth himself has grown through the same schools and colleges and would have seen so many such incidents to flare his imagination. Love goes back a generation when a glance or a gesture spoke louder than all those silly banter and conveyed volumes of message. The romance between Vinod(Nivin Pauly) and Aisha (Isha) is delightfully engaging and credit should go to the young actors for their absolute commitment and dedication towards the characterization of the pair.

Nivin Pauly as the small town college boy acts and looks fine in his role. Isha Talwar looks bewitching and angelic as the Muslim girl and is able to be convincing. At times though, she looks a bit confused.

Aju Varghese, Bhagath Manuel , Ahmed Siddique, Sunny Wayne, Manikuttan , Sreenivasan have performed creditably in their respective roles. Manoj K. Jayan's performance is notable.

Cinematography by Jomon T John is exceptionally good. Ranjan Abraham edits brilliantly and Shaan Rahman抯 music and background score is so melodious and so wonderfully applied that the aura and flavor ofromance are enhanced.

Thattathin Marayathu is a beautiful romantic film which brings back memories of days gone by for the 憂ot so young and lessons to the young on 慼ow it used to be. A movie with excellent first half and average second half. But sure, it doesn't disappoints you. The movie is simple and moving with a very clear theme and substance.

Verdict: 'Thattathin Marayathu' is an Excellent love story.

"Why creating gossips with me and Prithviraj? " Asif Ali.

Asif Ali has warned those who spread gossips about Prithviraj and himself. He claimed that attempts to create a rift the two are being planned and that the persons responsible for the mischief are from the film world itself.
He said that he knows the intentions behind these moves and was confident that they will no materialize. Besides media, they are spreading these rumoursthrough facebook and twitter, Asif added.
He also talked about the morphedpicture showing Asif kicking Prithviraj’s head like a football andwondered why such frivolous acts are being practiced.
“Prithviraj is a much bigger star and I have been in the field for just over two years learning the basics. There is no comparison between the two of us and it is ridiculous to compare us”, said Asif.
‘I have discussed these matters with Prithwi and he reassured mesaying that he knew how news is twisted by the media to suit their needs. He told me that there is no need to get tensed up thinking about the gossip”, Asif concluded.

The heart throbs of the 60’s and 70’s, Sheela and Jayabharathi, are acting together after a long time in “Sir CP” directed by M.Padmakumar, which has Kunchacko Boban acting in the principal role.

“Though the story has nothing to do with the historical figure of the Divan of Travancore, the character of Kunchacko Boban in the movie possesses the same willpower and shrewdness as that ofSir CP and hence the title for the movie”, says director Suresh Babu, who also writes the screenplay for the film.

Other actors for the movie are being decided. Bold, courageous, popular and reminding of the supremely arrogant Sir C P Ramaswamy Iyer, people called him Sir CP. Screenplay for “Sir CP” is written by S.Suresh Babu.
Ranjith Lal directs “Sir CP” which has Kunchacko Boban playing the role of Sir CP. Along with Chackochan, Sheela and Jayabharathi appear in important roles. Sheela and Jayabharathi are acting together in one film after a very long gap but details about their roles have not been revealed.

Anjali on Kissing Scene.

Anjali added that having worked in films like ‘Angaditheru’ and ‘Engeyum Eppothum’, and having earned a good name, she did not want to be known as a sexy actress by acting in bedroom scenes and exposing herself.

Usthadh Hotel :: Malayalam Movie Review

As thename suggests, this is the story ofa hotel but it is also the story of a deep relationship between a young man and an old man set apart by a generation.

Kareem (Thilakan) has been managing Ustad Hotel for the last thirty five years and his grandson Faisi(Dulquer Salmaan) is always there along with Karim, knowing him, understanding him and loving him. The meaning of Ustad is friend and friendship is highlighted in every aspect of Ustad, both in letter and spirit. Situated near the Calicut Beach, people flock to the hotel for the wonderful cuisine prepared and served by the twosome. The food is wholesomeand satisfying and the customers include locals and outsiders. And Faisi vibes perfectly with his grandfather’s ideas and attitude. This deep bond between grandfather and his grandson forms the crux from which the story is woven.

Anwar Rasheed, who has already directed super hits like ‘Rajamanikyam’, ‘Chotta Mumbai’ and ‘Annan Thambi’, directs ‘Ustad Hotel’. Listin Stephen, maker of another hit film ‘Traffic’, produces ‘Ustad Hotel’ under the banner of Magic Frames. Dulquar Salman is Faisi and Thilakan is Karim, the two building a bridge between two generationa just as in the movie. And to complete the dazzling list, ‘Manjadikuru’ fame Anjali Menon writes the screenplay.
To add lustre and romance, NithyaMenon appears as Shahna who is in love with Faisi. Others in the cast are Siddique, Lena, Kunjan, Mamukoya, Bhagath and Prem Prakash. The film tells the story of ordinary people in ordinary surroundings living ordinary lives. It contains humour, love, pain and above all human values. It is a film one could relate to, where you find simple people doing heroic things, not with their fists but with their minds and emotions.

All the actors have performed out of this world with the youthful and glamorous Dulquer proving once again that he is coming out of his father’s shadow in the role of Faisi. Thilakan proves that thereis no substitute for experience with a subtle yet poignant performance. Nithya Menon is a revelation and will be a hot contender. Bhagath creates a niche for himself and the same could be said of Siddique, Mamukoya, Manian Pilla Raju, Kalabhavan Haneef and Lena, all ofthem at ease in their roles. Anjali Menon has run riot with thecharacters giving them a free reinto grow and in the process she could be forgiven if occasionally the plot suffers. The rest of the film crew like cinematographer(S.Lokanathan), editor(Praveen Prabhakar), art director(Biju Chandran), costume designer(Sameera Saneesh) and the choreographer (Shanker) have managed to keep abreast with the tempo and spirit of the movie. Gopi Sunder’s music injectsmore life to the already colourful movie.

‘Ustad Hotel’ is a moving film, the story well written by an extremelygifted artist, the film directed by a young and genuine talent and Anwar has definitely won the firstround effortlessly. Hats off the whole team for a splendid show!

‘Ustad Hotel’ is refreshing, captivating and engrossing.

Verdict: Good.

SPIRIT Takes A Massive 87 Lacs Opening Day Gross (BOXoffice analysis)

SPIRIT sets the boxoffice on fire with an earth shattering opening of 87 lacs in the opening day. The Mohanlal starrer has collected 3.12 Crores in it's extended opening weekend of 4 days. The film has got excellent word of mouth, and going by the trend, SPIRIT is set to be the 4th best opening film in 2012 behind CASANOVVA, THE KING AND THE COMMISIONER and MAYAMOHINI It is widely believed that, this is byfar the best opening ever secured for a film which does not belong to a mass / festival category.
SPIRIT seems to have comfortably withstood the stern challenge posed by BACHELOR PARTY which too has taken a big initial as expected. The film directed by Renjith, released under the banner of Aashirvad Films in 79 theatres across Kerala. The film is expectedto break even, early in its second first week itself, from its theatricalshare alone, as the production was completed in just 39 days, in a shoe string budget, widely believed to be less than 3 Crores, excluding printing and publicity costs.
SPIRIT gives a hatrick of hits to Renjith after PRANCHIYETTAN and INDIAN RUPEE. It is also a welcomechange as far as the boxoffice is concerned, as quality products with an optimum budget are raking in big money. SPIRIT is expected to rule the roost for the next couple of weeks, and at the moment looks at a lifetime gross of 9.50 - 10 Crores minimum, unless the collections go haywire in the coming weeks.
The movie has earned housefull shows all over Kerala on its first Monday, which leads us to a first week gross in the range of 4.25 - 4.50 Crores.

VERDICT : EXCELLENT OPENING

Boxoffice review ::week 24 2012 june

RANK 1
SPIRIT
Spirit takes the Kerala boxoffice bystorm, securing the best ever opening for a Ranjith directed film. The word of mouth is highly encouraging, and it seems like themovie is set for long run at theatres.
Gross : 3.12 Crores (4 Days)
Verdict : EXCELLENT OPENING

RANK 2

BACHELOR PARTY
The initial which Bachelor Party has managed, does indeed match with the hype and buzz surrounding the film. Though a poorly executed climax may possibly hamper its collections once the negative public opinion spreads.
Gross : 2.08 Crores (3 Days)
Verdict : VERY GOOD OPENING

RANK 3

MALLU SINGH
The collections have shown a growth of about 10% from the 6th weekend to the 7th weekend, which has not come as a surprise.Mallu Singh made full use of its last open week, with Hero and Thiruvambadi Thamban failing to impress.
Gross : 8.42 Crores
Verdict : HIT

RANK 4
 DIAMOND NECKLACE
Diamond Necklace is the undoubtedly the film that held up the best in 2012. The movie which released in 24 theaters, in its 7th week runs in 29 theaters. The film has thrived on metro centers, where it has been lapped up with both hands.
Gross : 4.81 Crores
Verdict : HIT

RANK 5

 - HERO
Hero just about manages to cling on to the 5th spot in our rankingscollecting about 15 lacs in its 3rd week. The film buffs have moved on to Simhasanam which is around the corner
Gross : 1.87 Crores
Verdict : FLOP

RANKINGS BASED ON COLLECTIONS FROM 11 JUNE 2012 - 17 JUNE 2012

BACHELOR PARTY grosses 2.07 Crores in 3 days (Boxoffice analysis)

Amal Neerad directed BACHELOR PARTY has taken a tremendous opening in Kerala, grossing 76 Lacs on the opening day, and 2.07Crores in 3 days of theatrical run. While the film is being appreciated for its stylish visuals and slick presentation, it is widely believed that the climax is a big letdown.

The word of mouth is negative, which caused a slight dip in collections on Sunday. As per the early reports, the film has held up reasonably well on Monday, and looks at an opening week gross in the range of 3.50 - 3.75 Crores.
While Saturday collections showeda drop of about 15% from Friday, Sunday showed minimal growth, which is a concern. It remains to be seen how the collections hold up over the weekdays, which shallgive a clear picture of the lifetime gross BACHELOR PARTY may achieve.

BOV BUZZ
Amal Neerad once again proves that he is a Director who commands a big opening. Thougha couple of his films have fallen apart after the initial buzz, it can be safely regarded that, with a decent word of mouth, an Amal Neerad flick shall become safe, largely due to its potential to attract a big initial. But the fact that his films fail to generate even a mixed opinion amongst the viewers is a matter of concern.

The film shall prove to be extremely crucial for Asif Ali, whose recent ventures, apart from Ordinary, have gone largely unnoticed. A good performance by BACHELOR PARTY at the boxoffice shall play an important role in bringing his career back on track. There is no official information available on the cost or the satellite rights for BACHELOR PARTY. It may require a gross in the region of 7 - 8 Crores to render it safe. There is a buzz in the trade that Amal Neerad has made an attempt to alter the climax of the movie, which as of now is not popular with the viewers, however we are yet to hear any official announcement on this.

VERDICT : GOOD OPENING

"Ustad Hotel" release fixed on June29th.

The rumours regarding the release of ‘Ustad Hotel” are baseless and thework of a few mischievous people, according to the director Anwar Rasheed. SAKUNI ::: Tamil movie Review

Karthi has become a familiar name among the Telugu audiences with the success of some of his dubbed movies in Telugu. In order to cash in on his popularity and fan following, the producers started making films in bilinguals. His latest movie Sakuni is one such attempt. The film has many Telugu artistes like Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Radhika, Roja, Pranitha and others. When it comes to the story....
Kamal Krishna (Karthi) is a normal middle class guy and he wants to save his house inSamalkot as the government is planning to construct a railway sub-way. In a bid to save it, he meets Chief Minister Bhupati (Prakash Raj), but he is insulted by him. To teach him a lesson, Kamal supports opposition leader Perumal (Kota Srinivasa Rao). What kind of steps Kamal takes to teach a lesson to Bhupati? Will he be able to save his ancestral house? Answers to these questions are to be seen on the screen.

Performance: In Sakuni , Karthi steals the show with his wonderful performance. He has taken whole responsibility of running the show on his shoulder. Pranitha has no much scope except to shake legs with thehero.
Santhanam tickles the funny bones of audiences. Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Roja, Radhika, Anushka, Andrea, Kiran Rathod have also done justice to their respective roles.

Technical: PH Muttaiah's cinematography is bright andaverage, while Srikar Prasad'sediting is very dull.
GV Prakash Kumar's music is below the par and none of the songs are impressive andfoot-tapping. Even the background score is very dulland the poor re-recording fails to elevate the scenes.

The director has chosen an excellent storyline with political backdrop, but has failed to narrate it properly. All the scenes are bits and pieces as he has chosen a novel way to narrate in the form of flashbacks. The entirefilm looks very dull due to unimpressive screenplay. He has also failed to tap the energies of Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Nazar, Radhika and Karthi. Roja's character iswasted. All the dialogues in the film had the Tamil scent and lacked local touch.

The production values of Bellamkonda are good. The entire first half of the film is devoted to narration of silly points in the form of flashbacks. Second half takes fast pace for some time, but the director lose grip on the subject again.

Remarks: Watch the film if you are a hardcore fan of Karthi. Otherwise, you can wait for the DVD as the film isnot that exciting and interesting to watch by goingto the theatre. The commercial success of the film depends on how could Karthi pulls audiences to the theatre.

Cast: Karthi, Pranitha, Prakash Raj, Chandramohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Santhanam, Nazar, Radhika, Roja, Kiran Rathod and others.

Credits: Cinematography - PH Muttaiah; Editing - Srikar Prasad; Music - GV Prakash Kumar; Presenter - Bellamkonda Suresh; Producer - Gnanavel Raja; Story, screenplay and direction - Shankar Dayal.
