ഹൃദയസ്പര്‍ശിയായ കഥകളുടെ രാഹിത്യമാണ് മലയാള സിനിമയുടെ പ്രതിസന്ധി എന്ന രൂപത്തിലുള്ള ചര്‍ച്ചയ്ക്ക് വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യം ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു ഏകദേശം കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു പതിറ്റാണ്ടായി. ധിഷണയുള്ള എഴുത്തുകാരുടെ അഭാവം നമ്മുടെ സിനിമക്കുണ്ട് എന്നുള്ളത് ഒരു വസ്തുതയാണ് താനും . 'ആശയം ഉള്‍ക്കൊണ്ടു' കൊണ്ട് ചെയ്തത് എന്ന നിലയില്‍ ഇക്കാലയളവില്‍ പാശ്ചാത്യ , ലാറ്റിനമേരിക്കാന്‍ , ഇറാനിയന്‍ , കൊറിയന്‍ ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെ നഗ്‌നമായ മോഷണങ്ങളും മലയാള സിനിമയില്‍ നടമാടുകയുണ്ടായി . അക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ ന്യൂ ജനറേഷന്‍ എന്നോ , ഓള്‍ഡ് ജനറേഷന്‍ എന്നോ വ്യത്യാസമുണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല . എന്തായാലും അല്‍പ്പം ഭേദപ്പെട്ട നിലയിലാണ് ഇന്നിപ്പോള്‍ മലയാള സിനിമ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ആത്മവിശ്വാസത്തോടെ പറയാന്‍ കഴിയും.

ഒരു സുപ്രഭാതത്തില്‍ കഥാ രാഹിത്യതിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം അവസാനിച്ചത് കൊണ്ടല്ല അത് , മറിച്ച് പുതുമകളും , വ്യത്യസ്തതകളും പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത് വിജയിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് , തീയേറ്ററിലേക്ക് ആളുകള്‍ വരുന്നുണ്ട് എന്ന കാരണത്താല്‍ ആണ് . ആ നിലയ്ക്ക് ഒരു കല അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ വ്യവസായം എന്ന നിലയില്‍ ആളുകളെ 'രസിപ്പിക്കുക ' എന്നതിനപ്പുറം സിനിമക്ക് എന്തെങ്കിലും കാര്യമായ റോള്‍ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടോ എന്നുള്ളത് ഗൗരവതരമായ ചര്‍ച്ചയാവേണ്ടാതാണെന്നു തോന്നുന്നു .

കഥാരാഹിത്യം യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ ഒരു പ്രതിസന്ധിയാണോ എന്ന രൂപത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ഒരു ചിന്ത നമ്മില്‍ ഉല്‍പ്പാദിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ലളിതമായ സിനിമയാണ് ജിബു ജേക്കബ് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത വെള്ളിമൂങ്ങ .ഈ സിനിമക്ക് ജോജി തോമസ് രചനയും , വിഷ്ണു നാരായണന്‍ ഛയാഗ്രാഹണവും നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു .സങ്കീര്‍ണ്ണമായ ഒരു കഥയും അതിന്റെ സംഘര്‍ഷങ്ങളും ഒന്നും ഈ സിനിമയിലില്ല ; നെടുങ്കന്‍ ഡയലോഗുകളോ , ശ്വാസം അടക്കിപ്പിടിച്ചു കാണേണ്ട സംഘട്ടന രംഗങ്ങളോ ഒന്നും ഇതിന്റെ ആകര്‍ഷക ഘടകങ്ങള്‍ അല്ല . ഒരു കുഞ്ഞുകഥ കെട്ടുറപ്പുള്ള തിരക്കഥയായെഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ദ്വയാര്‍ത്ഥപ്രയോഗത്തിലെ അശ്ലീലതയും , വളിപ്പുകളും ഇല്ലാതെ കൊട്ടകയില്‍ ചിരിയുണര്‍ത്താന്‍ കഴിയുന്നതിന്റെ ചേലും ചാരുതയും ഈ സിനിമക്കുണ്ട് ; അതിനുവേണ്ടിപ്പോലും മുന്‍നിര ഹാസ്യനടന്മാര്‍ ആരും ഈ സിനിമയിലില്ല എന്നതും ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ് .

ആദര്‍ശവാനായിരുന്ന പിതാവിന്റെ കോണ്‍ഗ്‌സ് രാഷ്ട്രീയപ്പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം കുടുംബത്തിനു ലാഭങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത വീട്ടിലെ മൂത്ത മകനാണ് ബിജുമേനോന്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന മാമച്ചന്‍ എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം. നാല്‍പ്പതു കഴിഞ്ഞ അയാളുടെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ വ്യക്തിത്വം വിശകലം ചെയ്താല്‍ രസകരവും കൗതുകകരവുമാണ് . കേന്ദ്രത്തില്‍ അല്‍പ്പം പ്രസക്തിയുള്ള , എന്നാല്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ കേവലം ഈര്‍ക്കില്‍ പാര്‍ട്ടി മാത്രമായ ഒരു സംഘടനയുടെ യുവജന വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ ദേശീയ പ്രസിഡന്റാണ് ടിയാന്‍ . സ്വന്തം ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ വികസനങ്ങളുടെ ക്രെഡിറ്റ് പോലും സ്വന്തം പേരിലാക്കി നടക്കുന്ന ആളുകള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ വിലയോന്നുമില്ലാത്ത എന്നാല്‍ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ കൂര്‍മ്മബുധിക്കാരനായ ഒരു രസിക കഥാപാത്രം . 

അയാളുടെ കൂര്‍മ്മബുധിയും , അതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട പ്രായോഗികതയും, തനിക്കു വന്ന് ചേരാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുള്ള മന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനവും, പ്രണയിക്കുന്ന പെണ്ണിനെയും സ്വന്തമാകാന്‍ അയാള്‍ കാണിക്കുന്ന അടവുകളുളിലൂടെ ക്ലൈമാക്‌സോടുകൂടി വെളിവാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു . ഇത്രമാത്രമാണ് ഈ സിനിമയുടെ കഥ. മുകളില്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച ചെയ്ത രൂപത്തില്‍ വിവക്ഷിച്ചാല്‍ ഇതൊരു കഥയല്ല ; മറിച്ച് ഒരു കഥാരാഹിത്യമാണെന്ന് കാണാന്‍ കഴിയും. എന്നിട്ടും ഒട്ടും മുഷിപ്പിക്കാതെ ചെറു നര്‍മ്മങ്ങളുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ പ്രേക്ഷകനെ രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂറില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ പിടിച്ചിരുത്താന്‍ ഈ സിനിമക്ക് സാധിക്കുന്നു. അതിനപ്പുറത്തേക്കുള്ള വലിയൊരു ഗഹനമായ ചര്‍ച്ചയൊന്നും ഈ സിനിമ അര്‍ഹിക്കുന്നില്ല.


വലിയ കഥയില്ലെങ്കിലും കെട്ടുറപ്പുള്ള തിരക്കഥയും , മുഷിച്ചില്‍ ഉളവാക്കാത്ത ആഖ്യാന ശൈലിയും , ഗ്രാമീണ ചിത്രങ്ങളും , അതിന്റെ നിഷ്‌ക്കളങ്കതകളും, മലയാളി ഇപ്പോഴും സ്വീകരിക്കാന്‍ തയ്യാറാണെന്ന് വ്യക്തമായി പറയുന്നുണ്ട് ഈ സിനിമ .വെള്ളിമൂങ്ങ എന്ന സിനിമയുടെ പ്രസക്തിയും, സ്വീകാര്യതയും അത് മാത്രമാണ്. ഒരുപക്ഷേ നല്ല കഥാതന്തുക്കള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുപോലും മുകളില്‍ പറഞ്ഞ അടിസ്ഥാന ഗുണങ്ങള്‍ സൂക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ അവാത്തതിനാലാവാം ഒരുപാട് സിനിമകള്‍ അര്‍ഹിക്കാത്ത പരാജയം രുചിക്കുന്നത്. ആ നിലയില്‍ കൂടി വെള്ളിമൂങ്ങ ഒരു പാഠമോ , മാതൃകയോ ആണെന്ന് പറയാന്‍ കഴിയും. ഒരു ന്യൂ ജനറേഷന്‍ സിനിമയുടെ നിര്‍വ്വചനത്തില്‍ ഒതുങ്ങുന്നതോ , അത്തരം സങ്കല്‍പ്പത്തോട് ചേര്‍ന്ന് നില്‍ക്കുന്നതോ അല്ല ഈ സിനിമ. 

ഗ്രാമീണതയും, ഗ്രാമവാസികളും, ചെറിയ കവലയും, മലയാളിക്ക് ഇഷ്ട്ടപ്പെട്ട രാഷ്ട്രീയവും എല്ലാം ഈ സിനിമയില്‍ ചേരുവകള്‍ തെറ്റാതെ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

  The rumoured hot couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif holidayed in Ibiza, frolicked on the beach in swim wear which got mercilessly clicked and distributed across the internet, they are shopping furniture for their new home in Bandra and everywhere they talk possessively about each other, and yet the duo won’t come clean on their relationship. We think we have a few reasons behind that.

  1.  Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had a very public affair. They went around for nearly three years and then they broke up which was not amicable at all. Deepika didn’t mind washing dirty linen in public and Ranbir chose to maintain a dignified silence. But that only worsened the situation. That seems to have made Ranbir pretty cautious about his relationships.

  2. Bollywood may have moved on to realistic cinema but the thought process seems to be ancient even now. Guess Katrina feels admitting to a relationship can lessen her popularity among males.

  3. It may also be case of evaluating the relationship whether or not it lasts. What’s the point in announcing about something that might not have an eventuality?

  4. Or they are plain not interested to talk about anything except their work.

Money Rathnam :: Malayalam movie review

As the title says it is a story about money and ratnam (diamonds) . The road movie penned by Anil Narayanan and Ajith C Lokesh trying to say a thriller in a ‘down to earth’ way. After scripting a serious subject in Aneesh Upasana’s ‘Matinee’ , Anil Narayanan proves as a talented script writer by providing a different experience throughout the movie.

The story rovolves around a Benz showroom executive Neil John Samuel (Fahadh Fazil) who fortunately get a bag of one crore rupees in cash. It all begins when the youngster who waits for his bus at Vyttila Mobility Hub after a launch party on December 30 meets some unexpected incidents. Soon, he embarks on a trip that takes him to some remote place in Tamil Nadu with a bag full of money. The incidents happening next 24 hours makes the basic plot of movie. The film is a thriller with some good comedy moments. Isaac Anakkadan (Renji Panicker)- a buisinessman, Makudi Das (Joju George)- a gang leader, a tamil nadu gang and some brokers enters the plot for diamond buisiness involving the money. Niveda Thomas plays the female lead Pia Mammen as Neil’s intended.

Neil John Samuel is safe in hands of Fahadh. He once again proved his talent by potraiting a mass character first time in his career. Though Nivetha Thomas didn’t make her appearance throughout the film, she has done justice to her role. It is a good coming back from her after taking a short break in Malayalam.The veteran script writer Renji Panicker once again proved his acting talent . After his notable roles in films like Hotel California, Pullipulikalum Attinkuttiyum, Rajadhiraja; Joju George impress the audience once again. The rest of cast were also well chosen.

Director Santhosh Nair has done his job well. He proves to be a promise for tomorrow. The direction style to tell the story in an ordinary way need a good applause. The scripting was so brilliant that each and every scene catch up audience’s attention. Situation comedys provides a hike to the film. The cinematograghy by Neil D’Cunha (who already proved his talent through films like Nee Ko Njan Cha, Philps And The Monkey Pen) and music by Prashanth Pillai (City Of God, Bombay March 12, Amen) also add boost to the film. Prasanth Pillai, the music director of the movie has done two songs penned by Rafeeq Ahamed and Dinanath Puthenchery. The songs were sung by Joe Panicker and Alap Raju. The song “Paisa Paisa..” already became viral among youngsters. Action sequences directed by Rajasekhar enhances the thrill of the film. .

The film is well executed to entertain common audience. It is receiving positive reviews from all around. In short Money Ratnam provides a healthy entertainment for all type of audiences. It worths your money.

Verdict :: കണ്ടിരിക്കാം (watchable)

Tamaar Padaar :: Review

A few characters with curious names, some good lines thrown in between, a devoted hero with a funny accent and some elements that could have been developed by someone more talented… Debutant director Dileesh Nair’s 'Tamaar Padaar' never goes beyond all these basics.

With a rather lengthy intro that promises a lot to the viewers, the film starts on a positive note, but it’s all forgotten midway. The entire first half describes the stories of a street circus performer named Jumper Thampy (Baburaj), another one named Tube light Mani (Chemban Vinod Jose) and a prostitute named Valsamma (Srinda Ashab). Though the characters are interesting, nothing much happens in the story and the patience of the viewers is tested with boring scenes peppered with suggestive dialogues, which often becomes nauseating.

The first half ends with a shot of ACP Pouran (Prithviraj) and we wait for things to get better in the second half. It is only with sheer disbelief that we can sit through this film that lacks any fizz whatsoever.

'Tamaar Padaar' had to live up to great expectations after a promising trailer, but ends up as a colossal bore. Dileesh Nair, who has co-written the Aashiq Abu films Salt N’ Pepper, Da Thadiya and Idukki Gold, disappoints big time in his debut venture as a director. Alby’s visuals and Bijibal’s music are good.

One can only feel sorry for Prithviraj, who has done his part with all honesty. But his efforts go in vain with this badly written and incompetently executed film.

Baburaj is impressive, while Srinda Ashab’s character is clichéd. Chemban Vinod Jose, who was terrific in the recent Saptamasree Taskaraha, is okay at best.

'Tamaar Padaar' limps from the word go, with a half-baked script and amateurish direction. The film has some moments here and there that shows promise. Go for this one only if that’s all you want at the cinemas!

Varsham synopsis

Venu (Mammootty) leads a happy and contented middle class life with his wife Nandhini (Asha Sarath) and his son Anand (Master Nabeesh), who is a plus two student.

He was in Gulf for the past few years and is now settled in Kerala. Here he starts a small scale finance firm, Anand Finance. He does his business as a service and soon his business flourishes well. This does not go well with his competitors and they join together against him.

The resulting heart rendering events are plotted in 'Varsham' written and directed by Renjith Sankar. The film is produced by Mammootty's production house Play House.

Govind Padmasurya, Mamta Mohandas, Irshad, Sudheer Karamana, Harish Peradi, T G Ravi, Sunil Sugatha, Sivaji Guruvayoor, Sajitha Madathil, and Anajna are the other main actors in 'Varsham'.

Manoj Pillai is the cameraman. The lines by Santhosh Varma and Jayagita are tuned by Bijibal.

Anjaan Tamil movie FDFS Review

On the lines of Baasha Bhai and Vishwa Bhai, here comes a powerful Raju Bhai who enjoys killing and also finds time for some love. A simple story revolving around a revenge spree is what Anjaan is all about. The dazzling Suriya looks dashing and smart. The Neymar like hair do, toned down costumes and exquisitely built body are all thoroughly convincing. Santhosh Sivan's yellow DI throughout the film gives the much needed look to the Mumbai based underworld film. There was no darkness in the compositions, to bring out the brevity of the script. 

All the gloss and shine goes with the art direction and shot divisions. Anthony sets a pace and rhythm to this almost 3 hour long commercial film. Lingusamy has written the film based on the 'present to memories' filled non-linear narration to detail a suspense attempted story. Dialogues to a great extent are acceptable except for one that keeps coming along. 

 The Tamil mass audiences want popcorn films. Essentially, the film has to get over before the eatable gets over. Anjaan takes its own sweet time to start and wrap. Though not much time is spent on how Raju and Chandru became a name to be feared, the Raju Bhai phenomenon is given the typical cliched hype almost till the second half. Samantha is cute and apt. The love portions almost work. Yuvan's background score gives varied colors. The siren used in the BGM during the build-ups is an experimentation. Special attention could have been given to the lip-syncs. Starting from the perspective of the challenged Krishna who goes on the picaresque search of his lost brother, the story dwells too much on the already experienced cinematic liberties like the act of love, friendship and revenge. The pre-interval stunt sequence needs a special mention. Stunt Silva has made it look live and realistic. Thanks to Suriya, Vidyut gets his slice of stunts in the flashback. Dissolved characters, unfurnished villains, stereotypical narration and song placement duds the flow of the film. The comedy portion of Brahmanandham forcefully put post-interval catering to the Telugu audience, is a speed breaker to the already lurching movie. The predictable climax makes the whole product less impactful. One palpable connect towards the denouement is a life saver. Anjaan goes to the list of, 'Could have been better' movies.

Verdict :: Anjaan is Average.....!!

 നേശൻ കഥയെഴുതി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്യുന്ന ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ മൂന്ന് ടീസറുകളൂം ഒരു ട്രെയിലറും യുട്യൂബിലും സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയകളിലും വൻ തരംഗമാണു സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു. ടൈറ്റിൽ കാർഡ്സിൽ ആദ്യം തന്നെ മോഹൻലാലിന്റെ പേരു കാണിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ ലാൽ ആരാധകർ ത്രില്ലിലാണു. ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ സംഗീതം നിർവഹിചിരിക്കുന്നതു ഡി.ഇമ്മനാണു. ഓഡിയോ റിലീസിങ്ങ് നേരത്തേ കഴിഞ്ഞ ജില്ലയുടെ ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഹിറ്റ് ചാർട്ടിൽ ഇടം പിടിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു.  ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഇനീഷ്യൽ കളക്ഷൻ മറ്റെല്ലാ തമിഴ് ചിത്രങ്ങളുടെയും റെക്കോഡുകൾ ഭേദിക്കുമെന്നാണു  അണിയറക്കാരുടെ പ്രതീക്ഷ. ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ടെലിവിഷൻ സം പ്രേക്ഷണ അവകാശം  നേരത്തെ  തന്നെ ഒരു പ്രമുഖ ചാനൽ വൻ തുകയ്ക്കു സ്വന്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.

Police case against Dulquer Salmaan ??!!!

Rules must be rules even if the person in question is an actor. Dulquer Salmaan the upcoming star of Malayalam film industry penalized for violating traffic rule. He was attending the audio launch of his latest flick "Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" directed by Sameer Thahir. This road movie has Bullet in animportant role so as a mode of promotion the main actors Dulquer and Sunny Wayne had a ride around Kaloor Stadium yesterday at Ernakulam.

The important thing is the main witnesses for this helmetless ride were the Kerala Police and the actor was asked to pay the penalty for violating traffic rules. The function was conducted at IMA hall Kaloor and before that the film team organised a Bullet ride at the nearest ground and toawe the crowd Dulquer and team joinedthem. Dileep has been offered a fabulous sum of seven crore rupees for acting in “Sai Baba”. This is believed to be the largest sum ever received by a Mollywood star for acting in a Telugu cinema. For a change, Dileep is shifting a gear and acting in a spiritual role, far removed from his usual light and humorous roles in Malayalam films which brought him fame and popularity.

Dileep will enact the life of Sai Baba from the age of 20 to 85. This is the firsttime that he is acting in a film from outside Kerala which makes his compensation all the more incredulous.The film in Telugu will be dubbed into other languages later. “Sai Baba” is being directed by Kodi Ramakrishnan and it is expected that the movie will becompleted in three months.

The film start with slow pace, little lagging on the first few minutes, but after some minutes in first half the filmentered into the deep. There is not much things special in the first half, butsome regular Surya showoff and some nice events. Totally a average first half.

But when the scenes has changed in the second half, the film entered the full pace in the second half Surya's energetic performance make electrify throughout the theater. No special twists and surprise after the smooth moving second half film end with an ordinary climax. Totally the movie wouldn't disappoint you, but the over hype may not give you full satisfaction - an average flick. The songs done by Devi Sri Prasad contribute positive to the movie, all of the songs are good. The Comedy scenes and some good scene makes the movie one time watchable even there is some unwanted scenes make little lag.

Verdict :: One Time Watchable

Singam 2 :: Tamil Movie Review.

Singam IIis an upcoming Tamil action- masala filmdirected by Hariand produced by S. Lakshman Kumar for his newly formed Prince Pictures. It stars Suriyain the title role with Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Vivekand Santhanamin supporting roles. Thefilm is a sequel to the successful 2010 film Singam. It is currently scheduled to release on July 5, 2013 along with a Telugu dubbed version titled Yamudu II while it is also being dubbed in Hindi as Singham II.

Shobhana In Geethanjali

Director Priyadarsan has confirmed that Shobhana who won a national award for portraying the role of Ganga in 'Manichithrathaazhu' will make an one screen appearance in its sequence made in the title 'Geethanjali'.
The movie which will have Lal as Dr Sunny will also have a huge supporting cast.Two fresh faces will appear as other lead actors in the movie. Priyadarsan and Dennis Joseph are jointly writing the script for this Manichithrathaazhu part two, which will have music by Vidyasagar.
